- Potes → Fuente Dé (CA-185) – warm-up through the gorge.
- Fuente Dé → Puerto de San Glorio (N-621) – long, fast sweepers, big views.
- Descent into León province → Boca de Huérgano.
- Boca de Huérgano → Portilla de la Reina → Llánaves de la Reina.
- Climb the hidden gem Collado de Carmona (LE-2711 & LE-234) – narrow, super-twisty, almost zero cars.
- Down to San Glorio again (different side) → back over the pass for the second time (yes, it’s that good).
- Riaño (quick photo stop at the reservoir if you want).
- Riaño → Puerto de Pontón (N-625) – optional detour if you still have energy, (instead, turn left at Oseja de Sajambre toward Puerto del Pontón and back via Cangas de Onís – adds ~70km).
- Main route continues: Oseja → Posada de Valdeón.
- Valdeón → Caín (insane narrow road along the Cares gorge – one of the best 20 km in Spain).
- Caín → Poncebos (continue the gorge road).
- Poncebos → Panes (AS-114) – flowing and fast.
- Panes → La Hermida gorge (N-621) – dramatic cliffs, tunnels.
- Back to Potes through the gorge – you’ll arrive grinning.
Perfect day on a bike. Coffee in Potes old town when you get back, then a cold beer at Casa Raymonde watching the mountains turn pink. Enjoy every corner!

The location is good. However,
Despite the fact that a heat wave was forecast, with a maximum of 40 degrees there in Potes, and despite our asking the host to buy fans for the rooms (they don’t even cost 20 euros), he didn’t do so. Only the attic had a fan because the heat was unbearable, and even then we had to sleep pouring cold water over ourselves and then letting it dry with the fan’s air. The other two rooms on the middle floor also had a bad time. You could only stay on the ground floor.
Also very steep and uncomfortable stairs, unsafe. On the middle floor there’s a wooden step that’s very easy to trip over, but the worst part is the killer beam in the attic. Unless you bend down halfway, you’ll hit it and the impact is tremendous.
I thought it was expensive for what it offered and for not even installing a fan knowing how hot it was going to be. I wouldn’t repeat the experience.

Pros: Absolutely beautiful property, a lot of care has gone into the refurbishment with beautiful details and furnishings. Well equipped. Amazing location in the old town, quiet but very close to all amenities and bars and restaurants. A wonderful host with great communication who was so helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property.
Cons: Nothing! Although would recommend parking in the main square as advised by the host.
